Youth Dance and Drum (Tambou) classes

The Haitian Cultural Heritage Preservation (HCHP) has initiated Zanset Guinen Dance Troupe aim to teach community youths how to play the conga drums and how to dance Haitian Folklore. The HCHP classes are opened to all youths ages 7 – 25 and are free of charge. HCHP Dance and Tambour Workshops focus on teaching the movement and drumming repertoire of Haitian Folk traditions. Each workshop also provides an overview of the dance's cultural setting, such as the costume, music and crafts that traditionally accompany it. Teachers are all former participants in Haitian Folklore dance and tambour traditions and are experts in dances and tambour.
